Binouidan (Bin el Ouidane) Dam in the Middle Atlas

Constructed between 1948 and 1953 in Azilal Province in the High Atlas mountains, the Bin el Ouidane Dam (سد بين الويدان) was engineered as an concrete arch dam to impound the El Abid River. Built to generate hydroelectric power and provide large-scale agricultural irrigation for the fertile Tadla Plain, the dam created a massive reservoir lake and represented one of North Africa's major mid-20th-century civil engineering achievements.
