Andalusian Gardens of the Kasbah des Oudayas Rabat

The Kasbah des Oudayas is an ancient 12th-century Almohad citadel strategically perched on a cliff at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river in Rabat. Within its fortified ramparts lies the renowned Andalusian Garden (Jardin des Oudayas), designed with geometric floral beds, shaded paths, fruit trees, and water features. The terrace commands panoramic vistas across the river estuary toward Rabat's neighboring historic twin city of Salé.

Issued alongside the definitive landscape series in 1955, this 75-franc postage stamp (POSTES / JARDIN des OUDAYA à RABAT) offers an elevated bird's-eye view of the lush Andalusian garden nestled within the kasbah’s crenellated walls. Designed by A. Delpy, the detailed blue vignette frames the river mouth, sailing boats, and the distant minaret and skyline of Salé.
