Ksar es-Souk (renamed Errachidia in 1975) is a historic oasis hub situated in the Ziz Valley south of the High Atlas mountains. Historically positioned along major trans-Saharan trade routes, the region is characterized by lush river palm groves (palmeraies) interspersed with fortified earthen villages (ksour) and kasbahs built to guard local market settlements and agricultural oasis networks against desert raids.
Issued in 1955 as a top-value denomination in the scenic airmail series (MAROC / المغرب / POSTE AÉRIENNE), this 500-franc stamp (KSAR ES SOUK) showcases the desert oasis landscape. Designed by A.
