Menara Gardens Marrakech
The Menara Gardens (Jardins de la Ménara) are among the most famous historic botanical retreats in Marrakech, established in the 12th century by the Almohad Caliphate. At the heart of the extensive olive groves lies a vast reflecting basin supplied by an ancient underground aqueduct network (khettara), fronted by a picturesque 16th-century Saadian pavilion (menzeh) that was later restored under the Alaouite dynasty with its iconic green-tiled pyramid roof against the backdrop of the High Atlas Mountains.
Issued in 1955 alongside the definitive monuments series (MAROC / المغرب), this 30-franc postage stamp (POSTES / LA MENARA à MARRAKECH) illustrates the Menara Pavilion in Marrakech. Designed by A.
