Crown Prince Moulay Hassan (later King Hassan II, 1929–1999) was officially proclaimed heir to the Moroccan throne on July 9, 1957, by his father, King Mohammed V. Having actively participated alongside his father in the struggle for national sovereignty and serving as Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, his investiture marked dynastic continuity and political stability for the newly independent Kingdom of Morocco.
