Anniversary of Independence (1956/1957) - 30 fr
Following years of national resistance and diplomatic negotiations, Morocco achieved formal independence from the French and Spanish protectorates in 1956. Upon Sultan Mohammed V’s triumphant return from exile in Madagascar and France, he proclaimed the dawn of freedom and national sovereignty, marking the transition into modern Moroccan statehood and national unity. Issued by the postal administration of Morocco (MAROC / المغرب الأقصى), this 15-franc commemorative stamp (POSTES / 15F / البريد / ANNIVERSAIRE DE L'INDÉPENDANCE / تخليد ذكرى الاستقلال) marks the Anniversary of Independence. The design features a photographic portrait of King Mohammed V in traditional dress, smiling and waving to jubilant crowds celebrating the restoration of national sovereignty.
