The Moroccan -La Marseillaise - 1.5 franc
The Stamp stands as a powerful historical artifact from a critical turning point during World War II, issued shortly after the Allied landings in North Africa (Operation Torch) in late 1942. Following the ralliement of the French Protectorate of Morocco to the Allied cause under the French Committee of National Liberation (CFLN), postal communications with mainland Vichy France were entirely severed. Facing a severe shortage of postage stamps, local authorities quickly arranged for emergency printing runs in Algiers. Emblazoned with the resolute wartime slogan "Un seul but la victoire" ("One single goal: victory"), this 1-Franc-50-Centimes definitive issue was designed to serve as a stark medium of anti-fascist propaganda and a rallying cry for the mobilization of free French and North African forces marching toward liberation.
